Background:
Fambidzanai came into being in 1988 and it is a registered trading trust private limited (No 87/18 )that is governed by a Board of trustees .Fambidzanai has been at the forefront of development organisations promoting food security through sustainable land use management (Permaculture) in Zimbabwe .It is one of the oldest Permaculture centers in Africa. The centre has fostered the creation of four other development institutions namely, the natural farming Network (NFN), the schools and colleges Permaculture (SCOPE), Permaculture Ecological Land use Management (PELUM).Since its inception the centre has paved the path for food security through sustainable land use management. Our development intervention is characterized by skills training in sustainable
methodologies, organic farming demonstrations, and participatory rural appraisal, and creating marketing opportunities for organic produce. Our centre is at the forefront of demonstrating the viability of Permaculture.

F.P.C aims to enrich the quality of life for rural and urban communities in Zimbabwe and regions through participatory training in sustainable agriculture.

To teach and demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge to restore people’s confidence in their ability to produce off land, working creatively in harmony with nature.

Fambidzanai aspires to carry out development that is rooted in the interest, hearts and minds of communities it works with. The participation of these same people is pivotal to Fambidzanai’s work. Fambidzanai values indigenous knowledge systems as they were made from tried and tested Wisdom by our forefathers. Fambidzanai is aware that for it to exist, it has to bring about a change for the better .We are determined to uplift the livelihoods of the resource poor farmers as well as to improve the health of all people so that we can all live healthy and dignified lives
Role and Objectives of the Organisation - Our major activities:
- Training of smallholder farmers, government extension workers, NGO development workers;
- Apprenticing staff on sustainable agriculture;
- Growing healthy, organic crops for income generation, food security, and health improvement and for persuading others to grow crops in sustainable manner.
- Outreach programmes where we implement projects with local communities in partnership with the Community Based Organizations and /or sister organizations as well as other appropriate government departments or NGO’s.
Current Working Area:
Fambidzanai is working in two provinces, Mashonaland and Matebeleland. In
Mashonaland it is working in two project areas for the Access to Market programme
which are Goromonzi’s Gutu and Mwanza ward and Svosve’s ward 19 and 20 and in Matebeleland it is working in the Kezi and Natisa for the
Sustainable Agriculture Programme. Fambidzanai also has training programmes offered at the centre which
include Introduction to Permaculture course and Nursery management
